ERNiCrMo-10 is a nickel-based welding filler metal classified under the AWS A5.14 standard (Specification for Nickel and Nickel-Alloy Bare Welding Electrodes and Rods). It is designed for welding corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys, particularly UNS N10276 (Alloy C-276) and similar grades.
Composition (Typical):
Nickel (Ni): ~57% (Balance)
Chromium (Cr): 14-17%
Molybdenum (Mo): 15-17%
Iron (Fe): 4-7%
Tungsten (W): 3-4.5%
Low carbon (<0.02%) to prevent sensitization.
Equivalent Alloys:
Weld Metal: UNS N06022 (Alloy C-22) or UNS N10276 (C-276).
Common Trade Names: INCONEL® Filler Metal 622, HAYNES® 622.
Properties:
Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and oxidizing acids (e.g., nitric, sulfuric, phosphoric acids), chlorides, and seawater.
High-Temperature Stability: Suitable for service up to 1200°C (2200°F) in oxidizing/reducing atmospheres.
Weldability: Good arc stability; low risk of hot cracking when proper procedures are followed.
Applications:
Chemical processing, pollution control (FGD systems), pharmaceuticals.
Marine engineering, flue gas desulfurization, nuclear waste treatment.
Welding dissimilar metals (e.g., nickel alloys to stainless steel).
Welding Process Compatibility:
Primarily used with GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG).
Key Precautions:
Cleanliness: Essential to avoid contamination (oil, grease, sulfur).
Heat Input: Control to minimize carbide precipitation.
Shielding Gas: Use pure argon or argon-helium mixes for TIG; tri-mix (He/Ar/CO2) for MIG.
Ideal for welding C-276/C-22 components in aggressive environments.
Provides weld metal with corrosion resistance matching or exceeding base metals.
Maintains ductility and strength in as-welded conditions.
For critical applications, always verify compatibility with specific service conditions and consult welding procedure specifications (WPS).
